C|SMART supports three common goals:

• Eliminate errors associated with manual data collection & data entry

Built for use with the iPaq handheld computer from Hewlett-Packard, c|smart is a robust and scalable application for managing power cable and power-based information. Used in conjunction with contact memory buttons (see Hardware for more information), c|smart allows data center managers, facilities personnel and other authorized users (electricians, technicians, etc.) to view, edit and save important power and asset-related data through new and unique access points, on the asset and while on the data center floor.

Once data is captured on the iPaq, c|smart can be synchronized with a desktop or server based system that will generate reports and provide additional views of your captured cable and power information. C|smart is a mobile application and can integrate with other applications, allowing for all information to be kept in sync and free of errors.

Panel Viewer
Panel Viewer is a utility application included with the CSmart Cable Management System for the purpose of exporting panel schedules from the CSmart Pocket PC application to the user's desktop in a familiar Excel-based format. Users simply cradle their Pocket PC device and launch Panel Viewer to get access to all panels previously saved to the device. Users can then view the panel in Excel, where they can print, edit, and save the document to their liking. When finished with the panels, users may also delete them from their device.

System Requirements
In order to use C|Smart and the Panel Viewer, the following system requirements must be met:

• Handheld Device
  • Pocket PC 2002 Operating System or newer.
  • ARM based processor (all devices with PPC2002 and newer are ARM based).
  • Open 12 or 22 pin serial port.
  • 64 MB Memory.
  • CSmart version 1.13 or newer.
  • Recommended Models: HP iPAQ 1900, 2200, 4100, or 5000 series models.

• Desktop system
  • Win 98 / Me / NT / 2K / XP
  • ActiveSync version 3.7 or newer.
  • Microsoft Excel 2000 or newer.

Installing Panel Viewer
Panel Viewer is automatically installed during the default installation of the C|Smart Cable Management System. Optionally, users can select to install only the Panel Viewer application and not C|Smart by clearing the C|Smart check box in the Components dialog of the installation program.

System Integration & Custom Development
Through a strategic partnership with Octave Technology, Power Cabling can also integrate c|smart with any asset management database or larger data center control system; and customize c|smart to meet your specific and additional needs. Custom reports can also be generated on a time and materials basis.
